Sharidya Navratri 2023 dates, starting from October 15 to October 24, are nine days devoted to celebrate the Divine Feminine. These are called Shardiya since this Navratri honors the devi of learning, Sharda. Therefore, one must devote herself to the mother goddess in order to learn. Also, the nine days represent three basic qualities of our existence: tamas, Sattva and rajas. The first three days represent Tamas, the next three days represent Satva, and the last three days represent the Rajas guna of our lives.

Navratri 2023:

Navratri is the time to please Devi through rituals and fasting at home. During these nine days, people worship the nine forms of the Mother Goddess. The forms include Maa Shailputri, Maa Brahmacharini, Maa Chandraghanta, Maa Kushmanda, Maa Skandamata, Maa Katyayani, Maa Kaalratri, Maa Mahagauri, and Maa Siddhidatri. Each form holds significance and represents different aspects of the goddess. Devotees offer prayers and seek blessings from these forms of Mother Goddess. Here is a list of nine different goddess forms, with a new one being honoured every day.

Day 1: Goddess Shailputri – Daughter of the mountain Himalaya

Day 2: Goddess Brahmacharini symbolises the great penance performed by Goddess Parvati

Day 3: Goddess Chandraghanta – The married form of Goddess Parvati, is the symbol of fearlessness and courage

Day 4: Goddess Kushmanda – Known for creating the world with her divine smile

Day 5: Goddess Skandmata – Mother of Skanda, another name for Lord Kartikeya

Day 6: Goddess Katyayani – The divine form of Mahishasurmardini, who beheaded the demon king Mahishasur

Day 7: Fierce form of goddess who killed demons Shumbha and Nishumbha

Day 8: Goddess that is extremely bright and pure

Day 9: The giver of all Siddhis
