Rishikesh: Prelude
As soon as the name of Rishikesh is mentioned, the beauty of nature comes to mind. Rivers overflowing during the rainy season, gushing water fountains delight contemplation. The dense green vegetation appears to offer great mental tranquillity. Whether you are a traveller or an explorer, Rishikesh should be on your itinerary. Whenever I reached Rishikesh, it seemed as if nature wanted to face you.
Rishikesh: Where to stay
One can find many hotels in the main market, but for those who want to explore, a relaxed place like a guest house or a holiday home could be a better option. On the Rishikesh to Dehradun road, there are many options near Jolly Grant airport. Even staying at Shivpuri Road would be a good option, but nowadays you can get traffic here.
Rishikesh: Places to Visit
There are many places to visit in Rishikesh, such as Triveni Dham, Kunjapuri Devi Temple, Parmarth Niketan Ashram, Ram Jhula, Laxman Jhula, Muni ki Reti, Neer Garh Waterfall, Beatles Ashram, and Bhootnath Temple. You have to climb a little to get to these places.
Rishikesh: What we did
You can see these places by including trekking in your plan or by taking a rented vehicle. You will get scooter bikes on rent from the main market. For Kunjapuri Devi Temple one choice is the morning trekking tour, which begins by taking you to the temple for sunrise, then treks down through the countryside, stopping at Neer Garh Waterfall, to return to Rishikesh. If you have your own vehicle or a rented one, you would love to stop at bridges, beaches and waterfalls. This is a must-do and is also a great way to spend the day and get to know Rishikesh better than the typical tourist attractions. And yes, don’t forget to watch Ganga ji’s Aarti at Triveni Ghat in the evening.
Sitting comfortably for a few moments on the banks of the Ganges will give you a good experience. Those who are in love with books, with a good book, may spend entire days just gazing at the raging Ganges.
Well, any trip guide would not be complete without the cuisine. And yes, of course, in Rishikesh, it is much simpler to find delicious North Indian and South Indian food as well. I truly enjoyed the mouthwatering food at the Rajasthani Restaurant, a well-liked neighbourhood restaurant near Triveni Ghat.
River rafting must be included in any discussion about Rishikesh. It is an unavoidable attraction for many people worldwide to experience this thrilling adventure sport. One can experience cliff-jumping, rappelling, river crossing, rock climbing, zip-lining, and bungee jumping are great ways to interact with nature and connect with the charismatic charm of the Himalayas, offering a great backdrop of the mighty mountains, giving the whole place a splendid appeal.
Rishikesh: Organic Experience
In addition to these locations, if you wish to explore more, head to the Dehradun route from Natraj Chowk via a forest, turn from Barkot Mafi village, and close to Thano village is the lovely ashram of Baba Neem Karoli, which is situated on a hill and where you may experience serenity. Once you exit, head toward Shastradhara, where there are a lot of restaurants situated along the way. You must eat food there, enjoy masala pakodies (fritters) with tea, and spend a few moments of peace. The menu cards of these restaurants could be quite interesting, but the highlight is the gorgeous views. You will get to see greenery and very scenic views on your way.
In case you have extra time, consider planning a trip to Dehradun. You should take the kids with you to the zoo in Dehradun. Trekking to the Shikhar Fall, which is close to the zoo, is another nearby destination. There is a beautiful waterfall, but this checking is a bit of effort.
You will undoubtedly return home with some lovely memories that we will cherish always. The serenity of Ganga, lush green valleys, and the awe-inspiring feel of nature’s lap make Rishikesh an amazing holiday destination to enjoy. Every time after returned from Rishikesh, I closed my eyes, it appeared as if nature was waving.
